Report: Malik McDowell Had Several Terrible Interviews At The NFL Combine

The NFL teams that chose to interview Michigan State's Malik McDowell didn't exactly give him glowing reviews, it appears.

The NFL Combine interviews apparently didn't go so well for former Michigan State defensive tackle Malik McDowell.

According to Yahoo Sports' Eric Edholm, McDowell left multiple teams with a pretty bad impression.

“Worst interview we did," one NFL team told Eric Edholm.

“Awful interview. Awful," another reportedly said.

While most scouts agree the 6-foot-6, 295-pound pass rusher is a tremendous physical talent, his tape leaves many questioning his motor and passion for the game. His uneven play is reportedly one of the biggest knocks against him, and when questioned about it in interviews, he often gets defensive.

Another team explained:

“With [McDowell], I can’t figure out what makes this kid tick. He might be the type who, maybe he falls [in the draft] and it lights a fire under him. I don’t know. But I need that light on more often, and he didn’t like it when we asked him about that.”

McDowell could be a high-risk high-reward pick for many teams in this year's draft, especially if he slides due to concerns about his character.
