Michigan State point guard Cassius Winston’s brother Zachary was tragically killed Saturday night after being struck by a train.
According to Chris Solari of The Detroit Free Press, Zachary Winston was hit by an Amtrak train in Albion, Mich. WWMT-TV first reported news of a train striking a pedestrian. The accident occurred around 8:25 p.m. ET last night near Erie Street in Albion.
Zachary Winston, 19, was a sophomore at Albion College and a member of the school’s basketball team, along with younger brother Khy.
A short time ago, Michigan State associate head coach Dane Fife confirmed Zachary’s death and tweeted a tribute to him.

Michigan State running back Elijah Collins, who graduated from University of Detroit Jesuit like Winston, and former MSU center Nick Ward also expressed their condolences on Twitter.

Michigan State is slated to host Binghamton tonight in its home opener. There is no word yet on whether Cassius Winston will play.
