For everyone who has lost faith in the Spartan football program, let me just remind you of everything that has been accomplished and how far the program has come. It was just about seven years ago when Mark Dantonio was named the new head football coach of Michigan State. He has created the most successful football program thus far at MSU.
Even though 2012 might have been a little disappointing, we have been spoiled in the past with memorable and thrilling football games. Does the play "little giants," ring a bell? It was the fake field goal touchdown pass that gave the Spartans and overtime victory over Notre Dame. That same year, 2010, the program won a share of the Big Ten Title after defeating Penn State.
There was the notable last minute "hail mary" pass from Kirk Cousins to Keith Nichol, upsetting No.6 Wisconsin in 2011. The Spartans also earned the Legends Division championship.
Though 2012 didn't pan out as well as we'd all have liked, Michigan State did take home a win at the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, defeating Texas Christian University. The victory should give the Spartans hope for the upcoming season.
With spring practice kicking off today, it is time to start looking forward to a new season of Spartan Football.
Here's a video, set to Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive", of Dantonio's tenure at MSU to provide inspiration for the players and all the fans.
