Michigan State Makes Change At QB, Starts Brian Lewerke

Michigan State has made a change at quarterback, starting redshirt freshman Brian Lewerke instead of Tyler O'Connor and Damion Terry.

Lewerke took the field with Michigan State's first team offense just now against Northwestern. It is the first career start for the former three-star recruit, who entered today with two completions in four attempts for 26 yards in relief.

Tyler O'Connor started the first five games of the season, but was replaced by Terry in last week's loss to BYU. Mark Dantonio was hesitant to name a starter all week before going with Lewerke today.

Is this the end of the Michigan State quarterback uncertainty? Well, Lewerke was 2-for-3 for 48 yards and a touchdown on the opening drive, while also carrying three times for 25 yards. That is a pretty good start.

The Spartans lead Northwestern 7-0 in the first quarter in East Lansing. The game is being broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
