Although the Michigan State Spartans probably aren't pleased with a four-point victory over Rutgers, the win does boost their resume.

This season was plagued by inconsistent production at quarterback for the Spartans. Whether it was Brian Lewerke or Rocky Lombardi under center, Michigan State rarely sustained success on offense.

While Michigan State came crashing down toward the end of the season, its 7-5 record earns them bowl eligibility. Nothing is official yet, but several experts already have their bowl projections available for the Spartans.

Jerry Palm of CBS Sports has Michigan State in the Outback Bowl against Texas A&M. Watching Mark Dantonio's defense face Jimbo Fisher's offense would be truly special.

College Football News also has the Spartans in the Outback Bowl, but instead they'd be facing the Kentucky Wildcats.

Eric Single of Sports Illustrated also believes Michigan State will be in the Outback Bowl. However, this projection matches the Spartans with the LSU Tigers.

These projections are all indicating that Michigan State will take a trip to Tampa for the winter.

Stay tuned.
