Mark Dantonio grew up in Ohio and currently coaches at Michigan State, but he hasn't spent his entire life in Big Ten country. Dantonio actually played defensive back for South Carolina back in the late 1970s. With the Gamecocks head coaching job suddenly available, it didn't take long for reporters to ask him if he'd been interested in leaving East Lansing.
Tuesday, Dantonio, during his weekly press conference, told reporters that while South Carolina is his alma mater, he's only interested in talking about Michigan - his team's next opponent. Check it out, via BTN:
Would Dantonio actually leave the program he's helped build into a powerhouse? It's unlikely. But it's hard to factor in the alma mater aspect of the situation.
Either way, it was inevitable that he'd get asked the question. It probably won't be the last time, either.
