A Michigan quarterback commit was forced to medically retire on Wednesday due to unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances. JD Johnson posted the announcement on Twitter, citing a heart condition.

In the message, Johnson reaffirms his commitment to his future - even if it won't come on the field. Since then, Johnson has received hundreds of heartfelt messages from fans, players and even Jim Harbaugh himself.

Former Michigan player Jay Feely is the latest to offer his support for the young man. Feely posted his message for Johnson on Twitter.

Here's what he had to say:

"JD My roommate at Michigan was a QB named Scot Leoffler. He destroyed his shoulder his Fr yr & was never able to play again. He became a player/coach. Today he is

The heartwarming reception Johnson has received since his announcement yesterday is inspiring. Perhaps nothing has been more supportive than Jim Harbaugh's response.

The Michigan head coach told Johnson that he would honor the scholarship. He even offers to help him find a way to help the Michigan football team. You can read more about that here.

It's great to see how supportive the Michigan fans have been throughout this process.
