Gus Johnson Jinxes Michigan Kicker During Ohio State Game
The 13th-ranked Michigan Wolverines came storming out of the gate against Ohio State on Saturday. The Wolverines put together a seven play, 75-yard scoring drive to make an early statement against the Buckeyes.
Michigan's play-calling was brilliant as the Wolverines became the first team to score on its opening drive against Ohio State this season. But that momentum was killed just moments later.
Wolverines kicker, Quinn Nordin, hooked the extra point try to the left leaving a point off the board in the process. For those listening to the game, one of Fox Sports' commentators totally jinxed the Michigan kicker.
As Nordin attempted the extra point, Gus Johnson uttered the words: "Now we go to Quinn Nordin, who's been a red-hot kicker for the Wolverines." And of course, Nordin proceeded to miss the easy try.
Johnson was 26 of 26 on PATs before the miss.
If it comes down to a one point loss for the Wolverines, Michigan fans will totally place some blame on Johnson. The superstitious feelings are at an all-time high today on rivalry Saturday.
It'll be interesting to see if Michigan tries to steal the point back on a 2-point try later in the game. The Wolverines will need all the points they can get against this elite Ohio State offense.
