Quarterback Harrison Bailey is one of the top signal callers in his class. He is set to come off of the board later this month.
Bailey is a four-star player out of Marietta, Ga. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 3 pro-style quarterback in the 2020 class.
He is the third-ranked player in Georgia, and No. 59 in the class overall.
Harrison Bailey will be announcing his commitment two weeks from today.
He made the decision date official via Twitter:
One major program is the definitive favorite to land Bailey as of now: the Michigan Wolverines.
Per 247's crystal ball, 90-percent of experts think he will play for Jim Harbaugh, with Tennessee receiving the rest of the predictions. Alabama and Florida State are among the other teams involved.
Harbaugh recently visited with Bailey and his family in Georgia. It sounds like offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton is the key figure in the recruitment though.
His father spoke to 247 about where Michigan stands:
“Harrison immediately took to Pep,” Mr. Bailey said. “You know, you go on a lot of recruiting trips and coaches are telling you how great you are, how awesome you are, and how they’d love to have you at their school. My correspondence with Harrison after the first time he met Pep (indicated that) Pep was more like, ‘young man, let’s see what you know on the board. Let’s pick your brain.’ He was real demanding of Harrison. Even at that point, probably knowing that they were going to offer Harrison, he still said, ‘look, I want to see who you are mentally and see if it’s a good fit here.’ That demand actually piqued Harrison’s interest, and I think that’s where the bond started.”
After a few years of mediocre play at the position, Michigan has established a nice situation at quarterback. Shea Patterson has played very good football over the last few weeks, former blue-chip recruit Dylan McCaffrey has shown flashes and is waiting in the wings, and four-stars Joe Milton and Cade McNamara have been taken in the 2018 and 2019 classes, respectively.
