Michigan narrowly escaped with a win in overtime against Army on Saturday. The seventh-ranked Wolverines were 22 point favorites heading into the game, according to OddsShark.
Despite nearly losing, and plenty of issues to sort out, head coach Jim Harbaugh took it in a different direction. In the post-game press conference, Harbaugh praised the fight of both teams.
“That’s how you fight. That’s how you scratch and claw. Both teams did that.”
An interesting, but expected response from the Michigan head coach. Media members aren’t seeing it the same way though.
As previously mentioned, the Wolverines were 22 point favorites heading into the match-up. Army had a chance to win the game with a field goal at the end of regulation, but couldn’t convert.
After the game’s conclusion, many of Michigan’s players jumped into the stands celebrating the win. The act went viral on social media sparking mixed reactions.
Jim Harbaugh: "That's how you fight. That's how you scratch and claw. Both teams did that." Adds that he could talk about Michigan's defense all day. The offense had mistakes that put the defense in tough spots. https://t.co/k9fuAzLM7R pic.twitter.com/R5V3BeBCkJ

Regardless, the Wolverines are now 2-0 on the year. As the old saying goes, “a win is a win”. But there will surely be questions surrounding the offensive game plan moving forward.
Luckily for Michigan and Harbaugh, the Wolverines are entering a bye week. They’ll then go on the road to face Big Ten opponent Wisconsin.
