Michigan wide receiver Ronnie Bell had a heartbreaking moment last night when he dropped a potential game-tying touchdown pass. Afterwards, he could be seen crying on the sideline.

Sadly, but not surprisingly, Bell has been the target of some fans on social media. It looks like at least one fan contacted the sophomore via e-mail.

Kirk Herbstreit has a message for any Wolverines fans ripping Bell: back off.

Herbie shared his thoughts on Twitter this evening.

To the so called

To the so called @UMichFootball “fans” (Vocal minority) bashing Ronnie Bell. Kid plays for “your” team..battles his ass off ALL night..has an unfortunate drop late and you decide to crush him??? What the hell is WRONG WITH YOU?

Herbstreit is correct about Bell having a strong game before the drop. He finished with five receptions for 82 yards and was a major reason the Wolverines were able to battle back from a 21-0 deficit and even have a shot against Penn State.

Every fan base is guilty of having people who do what Herbstreit is condemning. It is reality these days.

Still, good for him for speaking out about it.
