Former Michigan star and Fab Five member Juwan Howard is a candidate for the head coaching vacancy at his alma mater. Howard was reportedly set to interview for the position yesterday.
Reading the tea leaves, this seems like Howard’s job to lose. Michigan reportedly never formally offered Providence’s Ed Cooley, who wound up returning to his current job and earning an extension on the process.
Wolverines assistant Luke Yaklich is the only other name the school is apparently focused on at this time. Howard has also seen a groundswell of support, including some pretty noteworthy endorsements.
The latest tweet from Howard’s wife Jenine also has fans talking. It sure seems like a pretty big hint.

Is Jenine indicating a deal is imminent? Is she just having fun with her followers?
We should find out soon enough. More than likely, Michigan will try to wrap this search up before the holiday weekend.
Howard starred for the Wolverines from 1991-94 before embarking on a lengthy and successful NBA career. He has been an assistant coach with the Miami Heat since 2013.
