Upon closer examination, Michigan big man Hunter Dickinson didn't really take a jab at Iowa during today's media availability at the Sweet 16.
When asked to analyze Villanova, Michigan's opponent tomorrow night, Dickinson likened the Wildcats to "a more disciplined Iowa." That might seem like a slight to the Hawkeyes, but the full quote is less inflammatory.
"Like maybe like a more disciplined Iowa team maybe," Dickinson said, via Scott Dochterman of The Athletic. "I say that in terms of like Iowa, they're really free flowing and they have a couple sets, but it's mostly just a lot of them making up their own sets and really free flowing."
So it seems like Dickinson was simply saying Villanova runs more patterned offense than Iowa, not that the Hawkeyes are undisciplined.
The sophomore big man tweeted that he is happy to see someone provided further context.
While Dickinson seemingly didn't intend to mock Iowa, he did take some time to tweak Michigan State, Ohio State, Illinois and Wisconsin fans for taunting the Wolverines during the season.
All four of those teams were knocked out of the NCAA Tournament in the second round.
Michigan and Villanova will tip off tomorrow night at 7:29 p.m. ET on TBS.
