Defending conference champions usually get plenty of love in preseason rankings. Michigan appears to be one of the lone exceptions.

The well-known Mike Farrell released his Big Ten preseason rankings on Thursday. Michigan isn't No. 1 — in fact, the Wolverines aren't even in the top five.

Farrell likes Ohio State, Wisconsin, Purdue, Michigan State and Iowa, in that order, better than defending Big Ten champion Michigan.

We're not sure how Michigan was left off the list.

Wolverines fans are furious.

"No way you put Purdue, Wisconsin, and Iowa on this list over Michigan," one fan said.

"How in the hell do you have Mich St. in the top 5? They had an awesome running back and a good defense," a fan tweeted. "The ground game will take a big step back and the D will be tough as usual. Are you predicting a lot of 3-0 wins for Sparty?

"Iowa, Purdue, Wisconsin over Michigan lmao I get if you want to put the other two but come on this is a joke," one fan wrote. "I mean did you not watch the Big 10 championship? Or football at all last year?"

"Michigan beat 3 of these teams in 2021, didn't play one. One of them they beat by 39 to win the Big Ten championship game and somehow they aren't on the list," a fan tweeted.

Michigan football deserves some respect.
