Chase Winovich will be back in Ann Arbor next fall.

The Wolverines' All-Big Ten defensive end announced Wednesday morning that he will return to school for his redshirt senior season, postponing the NFL for another year.

Winovich led the Big Ten in sacks (eight) during the regular season and finished the season with 77 tackles (18 for loss), six quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

"It’s my absolute honor to represent this university for one more season after everything it has done for me," Winovich wrote on Twitter.

Michigan will lose star defensive tackle Maurice Hurst to the NFL, but with Winovich back alongside Rashan Gary, Aubrey Solomon and Bryan Mone, the Wolverines will have a formidable defensive line in 2018. In fact, Michigan's entire defensive unit should be a stout one, enabling the Maize and Blue to compete with Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State for the Big Ten East title.

Michigan opens up its 2018 season at Notre Dame on Sept. 1.
