It is typical for Ohio State and Michigan to battle it out for recruits, but not quite like this.

Way back in September 2016, Columbus (OH) St. Francis DeSales outfielder Joey Velazquez announced his commitment to Ohio State. Velazquez is one of the top underclassmen baseball players in Ohio.

He also plays football, and has drawn interest for that sport as well. Yesterday he picked up his first football offer.

It came from none other than the Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State's biggest rival.

Now, if Michigan is Velazquez's first football offer, we'd expect some other schools to get involved with him soon. He'll have options on the table.

He's also a candidate to be chosen in the 2019 MLB Draft, as Eleven Warriors points out.

“To be honest, this has all come at me really fast,” Velazquez told 11W. “I need to really think about everything.”

Right now, Velazquez's top choices would be Ohio State for baseball or Michigan for football.

That's not half bad at all.
