Michigan Has Contacted The San Francisco 49ers About Hiring Jim Harbaugh

The University of Michigan has contacted the San Francisco 49ers about hiring Jim Harbaugh, according to the organization's general manager, Trent Baalke.

Baalke, appearing on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco Monday night, confirmed that Wolverines' officials have reached out.

"I think the University of Michigan, in reaching out, did handle it correctly," Baalke said. "As I look at it, it's very simple. He's the head football coach of the San Francisco 49ers."

San Francisco, eliminated from playoff contention, ends its season Sunday. Harbaugh, 51, has one year remaining on his contract. Multiple reports have claimed Michigan has offered Harbaugh a hefty deal to become the Wolverines' coach. Harbaugh might be leaning towards accepting that offer, too.

Harbaugh, a Michigan alumnus, played for the Wolverines from 1982-86. He is widely believed to be Michigan's top choice.

Will the Wolverines get their man? We should find out soon. Hopefully.
