Mitch McGary Has Been Waived By The Oklahoma City Thunder

The Mitch McGary era in Oklahoma City is over.

Mitch McGary, a 24-year-old forward, has been waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to Yahoo! Sports The Vertical.

The former Michigan Wolverines' star was a first-round pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, taken No. 21 overall. The Vertical is reporting that McGary will attempt to play in either China or Europe.

McGary has been suspended twice by the NBA this year. He received a five-game suspension in July for violating the league's drug policy. In September, the league suspended him an additional 10 games for non-compliance regarding the league's drug policy. The latter suspension was not believed to be for a positive drug test, but rather due to McGary's failure to live up to the league's drug program guidelines.

The former college star played in 20 games for the Oklahoma City Thunder last season, averaging 1.3 points and 0.9 rebounds in 3.6 minutes per game.

Oklahoma City opens its 2016-17 season Wednesday at Philadelphia.
