It is late December, so that means it is time for the Jim Harbaugh NFL rumors to start going once again. The New York Jets are the latest team to be mentioned.

A report last night from Pro Football Talk stated that the Jets were going to "make a run" at the Michigan head coach. The Jets are expected to move on from Todd Bowles once Week 17 is over.

Naturally, that report got people buzzing. Harbaugh in New York would be interesting to say the least, but the Jets have denied they are interested.

Chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson released a cookie-cutter statement this morning downplaying any Jets' attraction to Harbaugh.

“Todd Bowles is our Head Coach. There is no truth to the report of our interest in Jim Harbaugh," the statement reads.

Well, the first sentence is true. Todd Bowles is the Jets head coach, if only for one more week. As for the second sentence, time will tell if the Jets contact Harbaugh. For what it's worth, Harbaugh said earlier this month he is staying in Ann Arbor, and Michigan insider John U. Bacon reiterated this morning that the doesn't expect the coach to leave his alma mater.

Michigan will close out its 2018 season in the Peach Bowl against Florida on Saturday.
