Ohio State head coach Ryan Day made headlines during his first offseason when he hired away a pair of assistants from rival Michigan. One of those coaches was linebackers coach Al Washington.
Washington spoke following today's spring practice at his new school. He spent just one season at Michigan under Harbaugh, but apparently it was enough to make a major impact on him.
The son of an Ohio State alum, Washington had high praise for Harbaugh and Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown when speaking with the media today.
“I’ve always been a scarlet and grey guy, but I’m just gonna say this,” Washington said. “Jim Harbaugh and Don Brown – Don Brown, that guy – talk about influential. That guy: I love him. I’ve learned so much from him. I’m proud to say that. That was tough sometimes to think about (leaving), but I love being here for Ohio State. This is Ohio State. But I just want to say that, because it’s important to say.”

Washington joins former Michigan defensive line coach Greg Mattison in Columbus. Mattison was hired by Day to become Ohio State's new defensive coordinator.
