This is something you don't often see.
Michigan football named its 2017 team captains earlier today.
Offensive lineman Mason Cole and linebacker Mike McCray are the co-captains of the 2017 Wolverines. McCray's father was also a captain when he played in the Big Ten, albeit at a very different school.
Mike McCray Sr. was a linebacker at Ohio State, Michigan's arch-rival. He was also a Buckeye captain in 1988.
In this MLive.com article from last year, the younger McCray says how he grew up an Ohio State fan but is content with his decision to play for the Wolverines. OSU offered him a scholarship after he committed to Michigan, but he stayed loyal.
McCray has never beaten his father's alma mater, as OSU has won the last five games in the rivalry.
Michigan is hoping to change that this year.
