It’s safe to say that when the decision was made for Michigan’s game against Penn State to be played under the lights, expectations were a bit higher in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines sit at just 2-4 on the season and have lost consecutive games to Utah, Minnesota and Rutgers.
Penn State sits at 4-1, but is coming off of an ugly loss to Northwestern. The Nittany Lions will need to win this one if they want any shot of representing the Big Ten East in the league’s title game later this year.

Prediction: Penn State started its season with five games in as many weeks, including a cross-continent trip to Dublin and a road game at Rutgers. The travel and grind of the schedule may have caught up with James Franklin’s team two weeks back, as it was dominated by Northwestern at home. The Nittany Lions and quarterback Christian Hackenberg had a bye week to prepare for this game, however. They also have a bye next week, so they won’t be looking ahead either.
Michigan should be jacked to play under the lights, but at the end of the day, the Wolverines have already lost home games to both Utah and Minnesota. Following the fiasco related to backup quarterback Shane Morris’ health, Michigan will return to former starter Devin Gardner, who has been underwhelming this season, to say the least.
We’ll take Penn State to win and cover, given the rest factor and the current turmoil in Ann Arbor.
