Former Michigan wide receiver Anthony Carter was a three-time All-American (1979-82). During his time with the Wolverines, he wore No. 1.
The jersey number has since become an honorable one for Michigan wide receivers. Only six WRs - Greg McMurtry, Derrick Alexander, Tyrone Butterfield, David Terrell, Braylon Edwards and Devin Funchess - have worn No. 1 since Carter did.
It looks like incoming four-star wide receiver Dylan Crawford will be the seventh Michigan wide receiver to wear No. 1 since Carter.

Crawford, a 6-foot-1, 186-pound prospect out of California, was the No. 19 wide receiver in the 2016 class per 247Sports' Composite Rankings.
A video was also tweeted of the locker room, which shows that five-star defensive tackle recruit Rashan Gary will wear No. 3.

Michigan has yet to confirm any of the numbers, though the ones for Crawford and Gary look official.
