Report: Florida DC D.J. Durkin Waiting On Harbaugh And Michigan, Has Interest From Texas A&M

The never-ending saga of Jim Harbaugh and Michigan may be holding up various other potential moves in the college football world. Florida defensive coordinator and interim head coach D.J. Durkin will be a hot commodity for teams looking for help on the defensive side of the ball, but he may be waiting on Harbaugh before he makes a decision on his own future.

Durkin, who coached at Stanford from 2007-09, is reportedly interested in joining a hypothetical Harbaugh staff at Michigan, while he has interest from another big team with a need at defensive coordinator: Texas A&M.

Texas A&M’s slow movement toward hiring a defensive coordinator appears to be tied to Jim Harbaugh.

One of the Aggies’ candidates, Florida defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin, is waiting to see whether Harbaugh takes the open Michigan head coaching job, according to a source close to the situation. If Harbaugh, currently at odds with the San Francisco 49ers, were to go back to coach his alma mater, Durkin could get reunited with his former Stanford boss.

While Florida was disappointing this season, Durkin's Gators defense is ranked 9th in total defense, and 2nd in the SEC.
