Report: Jim Harbaugh Will Make Roughly $5 Million A Season At Michigan, Didn't Want To Be Highest-Paid CFB Coach

Jim Harbaugh is set to be announced as Michigan's new head football coach at a press conference at 12 p.m. E.T.

While the details of the former San Francisco 49ers' coach's contract have yet to officially be released, there have been multiple reports claiming it will be in the $8 million/season range. Those reports appear to be incorrect.

According to John U. Bacon, a Michigan-based reporter and author, Harbaugh's contract will be for roughly $5 million/season, plus incentives.

Michigan State's Mark Dantonio is the highest-paid coach in the Big Ten, making roughly $5.6 million/season. Alabama's Nick Saban is the highest-paid coach in the country, making roughly $7.1 million/season.

With a reported annual salary of roughly $5 million/season, Harbaugh will be one of the three highest-paid coaches in the Big Ten, along with Dantonio and Ohio State's Urban Meyer (who made roughly $4.6 million this season but is likely due for a raise).
