Report: Mitch McGary Headed To NBA After Receiving 1-Year NCAA Ban

Michigan sophomore big man Mitch McGary, after missing almost the entire 2013-2014 season with a back injury, was seriously considering returning to Ann Arbor for his junior year with the Wolverines. That was until, according to Yahoo! Sports, he was hit with a one-year NCAA suspension after testing positive for marijuana during the NCAA Tournament. McGary dressed, but did not play, for UM's Sweet 16 game against Tennessee. He was randomly selected to be drug tested after the game.

As such, McGary will forego the rest of his collegiate eligibility and enter this year's NBA Draft.

McGary had his coming out party during the 2013 NCAA Tournament, scoring in double figures in five of his team's six games. While this certainly isn't how he'd have hoped to leave Ann Arbor, it's not the worst contingency plan we've ever heard.
