Minnesota is making an awesome change to its uniforms for its Military Appreciation Day game against Nebraska.
The Golden Gophers host the Huskers at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, and their uniforms will have a special patriots flair.
The Block ‘M’ logo on the helmet will have an American flag pattern, as will the helmet’s center stripe.
The strip will feature head coach P.J. Fleck’s slogan “Row The Boat” down the front. The back, which usually reads “Ski U Mah,” the school’s slogan, will instead feature the name of a veteran who is currently a student at the University.
Saturday is Military Appreciation Day at TCF Bank Stadium. Our helmets – and the names on them – will recognize current @UMNews students and graduates who have served. 🇺🇸 https://t.co/IqpU5aaGzu pic.twitter.com/9q4xV8vWwh

More on the helmets:
Minnesota’s helmets will feature the name of a veteran who is part of the Student Veterans Association, which means that current students who are military veterans will have their name on the back of a helmet. The last name will be featured on the center stripe of the helmet, which will be red, white and blue for Saturday’s game. The helmet will also display a logo reflecting the military branch that the individual served.
Minnesota’s coaches and support staff will also have the name of a veteran and military branch detail prominently displayed on their game apparel.
Minnesota also produced a video about the uniforms for Saturday’s game.
Saturday’s game will also feature a flyover, and a veteran will be on hand for the coin toss.
