It is only Thursday night of Week 1 of the college football season, and we already have a major upset alert. Minnesota leads No. 3 Ohio State 14-10 at halftime.
After Ohio State jumped ahead 10-0 in the first quarter, it looked like the Buckeyes were on their way to a blowout. But Minnesota fought back, converting a gutsy 4th-and-1 in their own territory and capping the drive off with a touchdown pass from Tanner Morgan to Dylan Wright.
After Buckeye quarterback C.J. Stroud threw an interception, the Golden Gophers once again matriculated the ball down the field. This time, running back Mohamed Ibrahim finished things off with a touchdown run.
Ibrahim has 114 yards on 19 carries in the first half. On the other side, Stroud is just 8-of-14 for 58 yards and that interception in his first career start.
Long way to go, but Minnesota knocking off Ohio State on a Thursday night would be a hell of a way to open the season.

PJ Fleck going for it on 4th and 1 from his own 29 while down 10-zip flipped the Minnesota-Ohio State game. Gophers up 14-10 at half. Scared money don’t make money.

sack kills the drive, but #Gophers lead into halftime.
Ohio State gets the ball to start the second half.

Welp, that was not the first half I envisioned for Ohio State.
Think it comes down solely to multiple decisions not to let the best players play. The talent differential is off the charts when the Buckeyes aren't purposefully shrinking it. Should be a different second half.

While Ohio State fans are likely feeling a little restless, there’s no reason to panic. The Buckeyes get the ball to start the third quarter, and if they can get Stroud settled in and lean on their running game, they should be fine in the second half.
But the longer this game stays close, with Minnesota either leading or within striking distance, the more confident the Gophers should get. It’s going to be an interesting final 30 minutes for sure.
The second half of Ohio State-Minnesota will be starting soon on FOX.
