Brett McMurphy Zings ESPN After Steve Levy Forgets The Network Laid Him Off

Score one for Brett McMurphy.

Brett McMurphy, one of the most dialed-in college football reporters in the country, was surprisingly laid off this past April by ESPN. One prominent network commentator seems to have forgotten that fact.

Steve Levy, who was calling the UCF vs. Memphis AAC title game, broke the news live on-air that Scott Frost had accepted the Nebraska job - citing ESPN's "own" Brett McMurphy as the source. Whoops.

The internet noticed. McMurphy himself noticed. He struck back.

Yes, it was an innocent mistake by Levy. But it does show you that ESPN has had so many layoffs the past year, its own employees can't even keep track of who works there anymore.
