Preseason expectations for the Huskers were high entering the 2019 season. But now, Nebraska football is in real danger of not becoming bowl eligible this year.
Nebraska dropped a crucial game to Indiana over the weekend. Who would've thought the Hoosiers would become bowl eligible before the Huskers did?
Moving forward, it won't get any easier for Scott Frost and his team. Nebraska still has difficult challenges remaining against Purdue, Wisconsin, Maryland and Iowa (in that order).
ESPN has released its predictions for each of those remaining games. The site's Football Power Index doesn't have much faith in Frost and the Huskers.
Here's a look at Nebraska's win probability for each of its remaining games this season:
- at Purdue - 46.9%
- vs. No. 18 Wisconsin - 14.4%
- at Maryland - 44%
- vs. No. 18 Iowa - 22.6%
ESPN predicts that Nebraska is going to lose all four of its remaining contests this season. That would put the Huskers at a disappointing 4-8 — the same outcome they suffered last year.
Nebraska's highest win probability in its remaining games comes in two contests on the road. The Huskers have a 46.9 percent chance to be Purdue and 44 percent chance to beat Maryland.
Frost's squad is just 1-2 on the road this season, though. Nebraska will have to overcome its road woes if it hopes to go bowling later this season.
