With the college football season almost here, ESPN has released its record projections for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. They enter this fall as a trendy pick to have a bounce-back year.
Nebraska went 4-8 in its first season with Scott as the head coach. Once his offensive system went into full effect, the Cornhuskers saw a lot of improvement.
Perhaps the biggest key to the Cornhuskers having success is the development of dual-threat quarterback Adrian Martinez. He possesses the skill to dominate any game due to his ability to run and throw.
It might seem too premature to crown Nebraska as a contender in the Big Ten, but clearly ESPN is confident in its chances this year.
ESPN’s Football Power Index has made projections for every game on the Cornhuskers’ schedule. Here’s how it sees the season playing out:
- Week 1 vs. South Alabama: Win
- Week 2 at Colorado: Win
- Week 3 vs. Northern Illinois: Win
- Week 4 at Illinois: Win
- Week 5 vs. Ohio State: Loss
- Week 6 vs. Northwestern: Win
- Week 7 at Minnesota: Loss
- Week 9 vs. Indiana: Win
- Week 10 at Purdue: Win
- Week 12 vs. Wisconsin: Win
- Week 13 at Maryland: Win
- Week 14 vs. Iowa: Win
The final record for Nebraska would be 10-2.
It’d be quite the jump for Frost in his second year at the program.
