Tonight's game against Illinois hasn't been a good one for Nebraska football so far, with the Huskers down early. Now, star running back Maurice Washington may be dealing with an injury.

Big plays have been tough to come by for the Huskers early on. Washington just had one though, ripping off a 41-yard run on his second carry.

Now, he's being checked out. Rivals' Sean Callahan reports that he's being checked out on the sideline following the big run.

Washington has two carries for 47 total yards. That run wound up setting up Nebraska's first score of the game.

A few plays after the 41-yard scamper, Adrian Martinez found Jack Stoll for a six yard touchdown, to cut Illinois' lead to 14-7.

Illinois entered the game as a big underdog. The point spread for the game nearly doubled during the week, up to 13 points. The Fighting Illini started the year 2-0, but fell to MAC program Eastern Michigan last week, 34-31.

They opened the game with a 66-yard Reggie Corbin touchdown run. A few drives later, Illinois converted an Adrian Martinez fumble into a Brandon Peters touchdown pass to Josh Imatorbhebhe.

It is still very early in Champaign, with five minutes remaining in the first quarter. Two early touchdowns and an injury to a key player like Maurice Washington isn't how any team wants to open things up.
