With the season opener a few hours away, Nebraska fans were uncertain if Maurice Washington would see the field. Washington, one of the most talented running backs in the Big Ten, has dealt with legal issues over the past few months.

Washington is facing felony charges in California stemming from an explicit video that he allegedly sent to an ex-girlfriend.

Earlier this week, Scott Frost told the media that a decision hasn't been made on Washington.

Just before kickoff, though, the team appears to have made a decision.

Washington took the field with the team - in uniform.

Whether or not he'll actually see the field remains to be seen, but he'll be dressed on the sideline for the first game of the year.

Washington is fighting for the chance to replace former Nebraska running back Devine Ozigbo. The former Huskers running back is currently trying to make the 53-man roster for the New Orleans Saints.

Last season, Washington had 77 carries for 455 yards and three touchdowns.

Stay tuned for the latest on Washington's status.

No. 24 Nebraska is scheduled to kick off against South Alabama at 12:00 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
