Nebraska Honors Sam Foltz At Fan Day With Empty Chair

This year's Nebraska Football Fan Day is a bit more somber than usual.

Earlier today, the team unveiled "SF27" helmet decals that Nebraska will wear this fall in honor of their punter Sam Foltz. The senior was killed in a car crash in late July along with former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler. LSU kicker Colby Delahoussaye was in the car, but survived.

But Fan Day is about the team's beloved supporters, and the team is taking the time to make sure they too get to pay their respects.

The Huskers are leaving an empty chair for Foltz at autograph stations.

The majority of players and coaches sit at various locations on the field, and fans have the opportunity to get items signed by their favorite athletes and team representatives. Nebraska's decision suggests that while Foltz can no longer meet fans, he is still a part of the team and will be honored as such.

Tonight, Nebraska will also conduct a moment of silence and air a video tribute. Fans also created a memorial to the deceased player outside the stadium.

The Huskers' efforts truly show that while Foltz may be gone, he will not be forgotten.
