Prior to Saturday's kickoff against Maryland, Nebraska paid a special tribute to the former punter Sam Foltz.
Today is Senior Day for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and it's a bittersweet moment. It's typically a time for players and fans to reflect and give praise to those who have been with the program for four years, but this year, it means so much more. This should have been punter Sam Foltz' final home game and Senior Day too, but he was tragically killed in a car accident over the summer. Players and fans alike were understandably emotional.
Each senior laid a set of flowers on the 27-yard line as a way of paying respects to the former punter. Here's a photo of Tommy Armstrong getting in on the action.
Before kickoff, Nebraska played this tribute on the stadium's video board:
Throughout the season, opposing teams have chosen to pay tribute to the memory of Foltz, and Maryland was no exception.
The Huskers currently lead Maryland 28-0.
