Nebraska football fans’ dedication is no secret. The Huskers have not been a great team for some time, but Nebraska fans turn out every Saturday in droves. That stays true in the spring. Nebraska spring game attendance has trounced other teams this year.
Of course, there have been obstacles for other programs. A number of other Big Ten programs had to cancel their spring games due to weather. In Lincoln, however, we had so many people trying to go to the game that there was controversy over ticket distribution. Now, we know how many Huskers fans made it out.
Over 86,000 Nebraska fans made their way to Memorial Stadium this afternoon. That number beats the next highest recorded attendance so far this spring.
By a lot. Over 25,000 fans, to be specific.
Nebraska spring game attendance is listed at 86,818 for 2018.
Land of 10 has the numbers for spring games so far. The next closest team: Florida State, which was over 60,000.
Nebraska is your 2018 spring game attendance leader so far. By a laaarge margin:
1 Nebraska 86,818
2 Florida State 60,934
3 Clemson 55,000
4 Florida 53,015
5 Oklahoma 52,102https://t.co/UF0ZZMHkEN

There is a common factor for those top two teams, and four of the schools in the top six. All have new head coaches.
Scott Frost takes over at his alma mater Nebraska, after a highly successful tenure at UCF. Florida State brings in Willie Taggart from Oregon.
At No. 4, Florida has Dan Mullen taking over the team after leading Mississippi State to one of its best stretches. Texas A&M, led by former Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher, comes in at No. 6 with 48,000 fans.
Not listed is Alabama, which also hosted its spring game today. Attendance hasn’t been announced yet, but it looked like the Crimson Tide had a pretty good crowd. We’ll have to see if enough Crimson Tide fans showed up to beat out the Huskers.
Ohio State is usually a contender for the highest spring game attendance. However, there were mitigating factors for the Buckeyes this season, as Ohio Stadium renovations kept many seats unavailable. Ohio State is seventh in 2018 spring game attendance at 47,803. The Buckeyes have the spring game record, with over 100,000 fans back in 2016.
