Nebraska Wide Receiver Signee Monte Harrison Will Skip College, Agrees To $1.8 Million Deal With Milwaukee Brewers

The suspense didn’t last long.

Monte Harrison, a Nebraska wide receiver signee, has agreed to terms of a contract with the Milwaukee Brewers. Harrison, a dual-sport athlete, was selected by the Brewers in the second round of the 2014 MLB Draft. His decision to play for the Huskers or begin a professional baseball career came quickly.

Well that drama ended fast: according to @jimcallisMLB, #Huskers football & baseball signee Monte Harrison has signed w/Brewers for $1.8M

#Brewers have signed 2nd round pick Monte Harrison for $1.8MM, per @jimcallisMLB. He was committed to play football at Nebraska. Big get!

Harrison, a four-star wide receiver prospect according to Rivals.com, would have played both football and baseball for the Huskers. Nebraska’s baseball coach, Darin Erstad, was a two-sport star for Nebraska, too. Erstad went on to become a No. 1 pick in the MLB Draft and played in the league for more than a decade.

Harrison is expected to be an outfielder for the Brewers. He was considered by many to be the best athlete in the draft.
