Nebraska football already has an impressive 2019 recruiting class coming in, but the Huskers aren’t done just yet. Perhaps the top target on the board is defensive back Noa Pola-Gates.
The four-star player, likely to play safety in college, is the top remaining uncommitted recruit out of Arizona.
247Sports has him at No. 3 in the state. He is No. 153 overall, and 18th at his position, though he’s ranked as a cornerback.
Pola-Gates is set to make his decision at the Polynesian Bowl on January 19, and will sign on National Signing Day in February.
Nebraska is joined by Arizona State and USC in his final three schools.
While it sounds like it is very much up in the air as of now, Nebraska has a narrow lead in 247’s crystal ball predictions, with 38-percent of voters having him ending up with the Huskers.
247 spoke with Noa Pola-Gates, and he revealed that it is Nebraska football’s fan base that sets the school apart.
He answered some rapid fire questions in a video with the site, and Nebraska fans came up multiple times.
Pola-Gates is one of the recruits that Scott Frost took his entire staff to visit a few weeks ago, so it is clear that the Huskers really value him.
He has a strong football pedigree as well. He is the cousin of four-star defensive tackle Matthew Pola-Mao, who is also a Nebraska target focused on many of the same schools. Pola-Mao’s brother currently plays at USC, and they are related to Trojans and Pittsburgh Steelers great Troy Polamalu.
