Photo: Nebraska Fans Are Apparently Discouraging Recruits From Choosing Nebraska

Strange tactic.

Fans getting involved in the recruitment of high school athletes is a problem that universities often have to deal with, and one that continues to grow more prevalent in today's social media age. Typically, problems arise when fans go overboard trying to recruit kids to attend their favorite program -- supporters will shower young athletes in compliments, talk up their school, and in some cases, try to bribe players to play for a certain team.

Today, Nebraska had to deal with a different problem -- an apparent Cornhuskers fan named Husker Tom was Facebook messaging a current commitment and warning him that he may want to stay away from Nebraska. Here's a photo via Huskers wide receivers coach Rich Fisher:

That's definitely the strangest recruiting tactic I've ever come across.
