Photos: Nebraska Has Awarded Blackshirts To Its Starting Defensive Unit

Earlier: Last year, it took until late October for Nebraska's coaching staffto hand out the blackshirts - practice jerseys historically given to the team's first-string defensive unit. With former head coach Bo Pelini gone, however, the process was apparently a little more traditional this year. Mike Riley has awarded the team's defensive starters their apparel a few days ahead of the team's first game.

In the below photos, you can see the blackshirts for Nate Gerry, Dedrick Young, Maliek Collins and Byerson Cockrell. Nebraska revealed its depth chart earlier in the day, and all four players were first-string.
