Ameer Abdullah exited today's game against Purdue with an apparent injury to his left knee. The Nebraska running back got twisted up at the bottom of a pile on a 4th-and-goal play late in the first quarter.
At halftime, Huskers' coach Bo Pelini said Abdullah would not return to the contest against the Boilermakers, but added he did not think the injury was "that serious."
ESPN is now reporting that Abdullah sustained a mild MCL sprain on the play.
With Nebraska having a bye week next Saturday, it's probably likely that Abdullah returns to the field for the Huskers' next game. Nebraska, currently leading Purdue, 28-7, faces Wisconsin in Madison Nov. 15.
