Photo: Northwestern's Annual Coaches vs. Freshmen Watermelon Eating Contest Looks Intense

Plenty of teams across the country perform freshmen hazing rituals. The most common practice is giving freshmen ridiculous haircuts, which is great, because it's both hilarious and safe for everyone involved. Northwestern takes a little different approach with its freshmen, but one that is just as fun.

Each year, the new football players have to face off against the coaching staff in watermelon eating contest in which everybody lays face down on the ground. The Northwestern Football Twitter account tweeted out a funny photo of the event this evening:

We have no word regarding who won -- the freshmen or the coaching staff -- but either way this looks like quite a scene.
