This is about as embarrassing as it gets. Two Penn State offensive linemen — tackle Andrew Nelson and guard Brian Gaia — blocked each other during a crucial fourth down play in the fourth quarter of the Nittany Lions’ 29-6 loss to Northwestern.
Due to this, neither player picked up the Wildcats’ Greg Kuhar, who took down Nittany Lions’ running back Bill Belton for a loss of two yards and forced a turnover on downs.
This is reminiscent of last year, when two Florida offensive linemen blocked each other during the team’s loss against Georgia Southern. Penn State’s offensive line has been a major source of criticism for Nittany Lion fans this season, and this certainly won’t help them earn any support.
