The 2018 college football season gets underway in less than five months. Ohio State will be one of the top teams in the country.
The Buckeyes won the Big Ten last season and took down USC in the Cotton Bowl. They made the College Football Playoff two years ago and are primed to get back.
This week, ESPN updated its FPI – Football Power Index – to include projected win-loss records. There are also now projections for every college football game this season.
Ohio State’s projected win-loss record is 10.3-2. However, the FPI only lists OSU as an underdog in one game–against Penn State.
The matchup against PSU comes on Sept. 29, which is Week Five. The Buckeyes are given a 48.6 percent chance of winning that one.
With Oregon State, Rutgers, and Tulane coming to Columbus in the first four weeks (plus a neutral site game vs. TCU) OSU should start 4-0. A win over Penn State would put Urban Meyer’s team in early control in the Big Ten East.
Here are Ohio State’s FPI projections for every game.
Here are ESPN’s predictions for the major rivalry games.
