Four-star quarterback Dwan Mathis committed to play for Ohio State back in June. Wednesday, he officially changed his mind. Mathis has flipped to the Georgia Bulldogs in a big of a signing day surprise.

Mathis is a 6-foot-6, 205-pound pro style quarterback from Belleville, Michigan, according to 247 Sports. He has offers from 11 schools - Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan State, Iowa State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Akron, Toledo and Cincinnati.

Marc Givler of was the first to report the news.

Oddly enough, this means the Bulldogs and Buckeyes could be swapping quarterbacks. Justin Fields is transferring from Georgia and Ohio State is one of the frontrunners for his services.

Mathis is a class of 2019 player. At the moment, he's part of Georgia's No. 2 ranked recruiting class in the nation.

It's unclear if Fields' decision to transfer played a part in Mathis' decision - but it's not a far-fetched idea. If Fields does wind up at Ohio State, there's going to be a long line to play quarterback for the Buckeyes. If Dwayne Haskins leaves for the NFL, Tate Martell should be set to take over next year.

We'll keep you updated on all of the recruiting news on what's sure to be a wild Wednesday.
