Alex Grinch, one of the brightest young defensive coordinators in college football, has reportedly been linked to an opening at Ohio State.

When college football coaching rosters expanding by one spot, Alex Grinch, currently at Washington State, may reportedly join the already-stacked Buckeyes staff.

The Ohio native attended an Ohio State practice earlier this month, and when asked about his future at Wazzu on Wednesday, he gave a very non-answer.

Urban Meyer was asked about the potential that Grinch joins his staff this morning. He certainly didn't deny it.

Grinch has engineered an impressive turnaround at Washington State, which had been fairly rudderless on defense while running an explosive offense under Mike Leach. If Leach had taken another job this off-season, Leach was reportedly a front-runner to take over as head coach at Wazzu. He also drew interest from programs like Arkansas and Texas A&M to fill the defensive coordinator roles under new head coaches Chad Morris and Jimbo Fisher, respectively.

If Grinch joins the staff, he'll be paired with Greg Schiano, another top defensive coordinator and former head coach at Rutgers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, popular Buckeyes co-cordinator Kerry Coombs, and ace recruiter and assistant head coach/defensive line coach Larry Johnson. That is a ridiculous group.
