It was just this past December that Urban Meyer stepped down as the head coach at Ohio State, but it looks like some are already trying to recruit him back to the sidelines.
Meyer, in addition to working for Ohio State’s athletic department, will be starring on a Saturday morning FOX college football show this season with former stars Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn. Oddly enough, those players played at either USC or Notre Dame – two schools that many believe Meyer could have interest in in the future.
Bush and Leinart, according to Arash Markazi of the Los Angeles Times, said they’ll be recruiting Meyer to coach the Trojans if current head coach Clay Helton struggles this coming season.
Bush was not shy about it:
“We’ll definitely be recruiting him,” Bush said. “What makes you think we won’t be recruiters? Nothing is off the table.”
In the second note of today's column, Reggie Bush tells me he and Matt Leinart would try to get Urban Meyer to coach at USC if the Trojans struggle again.
“We’ll definitely be recruiting him,” Bush said. “What makes you think we won’t be recruiters? Nothing is off the table.” https://t.co/xaDbaOHDpp

Meyer’s decision to step down was called a “retirement”, but it certainly wouldn’t be a shock to see him coach again. He once said his dream job would be coaching at Notre Dame. Many also believe he’d consider USC, given the location and the prestige.
If Meyer does return, it would likely be to a glamor program – considering his last two stops have been Florida and Ohio State. It’s hard to see him coaching a smaller program.
