Dobbins is poised to see the field from Day 1.
Ohio State signed the No. 2 class in the country this year, so the Buckeyes brought in a slew of talented freshmen.
One of those newcomers is four-star running back J.K. Dobbins. Dobbins has drawn his share of praise from Urban Meyer, and it looks like the 5-foot-9, 199-pounder will see plenty of action right away.
CBSSports' Barton Simmons named Dobbins his top Big Ten breakout freshman for 2017, but he went beyond even that. Simmons said Dobbins will be the Buckeyes' best running back by the middle of the fall.
Recruitniks may have forgotten about Dobbins after he missed his entire senior season in high school, but he's the same guy that rushed for 5,000 yards over the course of his sophomore and junior seasons in Texas. He's one of the most explosive and dynamic players in the Class of 2017, and he made an early impression at Ohio State and has worked himself into the regular running back rotation. He'll be the best back on the roster by midseason.
Dobbins will start the season behind Mike Weber, who is no slouch at all. Weber rushed for over 1,000 yards in 2016.
If Dobbins can push him out of the startling lineup, that means he's as legit as people have speculated.
