Well, it didn’t take long for Justin Fields to embrace the storied rivalry between Ohio State and Michigan.
Last year, the Buckeyes absolutely decimated the Wolverines behind a masterful performance from Dwayne Haskins. However, this upcoming season will be different with the program undergoing changes at quarterback and head coach.
It’ll now be on the duo of Ryan Day and Fields to lead Ohio State in 2019.
Although Fields is still waiting to hear from the NCAA in regard to his hardship waiver, the former five-star recruit was already asked about the potential showdown with Michigan.
The dual-threat quarterback made it clear that he’ll be ready for the opportunity to play in ‘The Game.’
“I definitely knew it was a big rivalry, but coming here and actually seeing all the Ms crossed out, it’s definitely way bigger than I thought it would be,” Fields told reporters yesterday. “I’ll definitely be excited for that upcoming game.”
Michigan legend Charles Woodson went on Twitter to express his appreciation for Fields acknowledging the biggest game in college football.
This is what I’m talking about.. come in witness crossed out M’s and immediately understand what the rivalry is all about, its importance, and embrace it. #notjustanothergame #Goblue https://t.co/GOFnxKeXqf

If Fields does gain immediate eligibility for this season, he’ll have to outperform Shea Patterson to lead his Buckeyes to victory.
This year’s showdown will take place on Nov. 30 at Michigan Stadium.
