Story: OSU point guardAaron Craft was already a pretty popular guy on campus - something tells me that won't be changing any time soon. Craft's 3-pointer just before time expired helped propel the Buckeyes past Iowa State and into the Sweet 16, where they'll take on 6-seed Arizona.
The Cyclones hit jumper after jumper, finishing 12-25 from 3-point land, but the Buckeyes kept fighting in a back-and-forth battle. For every Buckeye basket, there was an answer on the other end. Luckily for Ohio State, Deshaun Thomas continued to play well after busting out of a long slump on Friday. Alongside Thomas, LaQuinton Ross put in arguably the best game of his young career, pouring in 17 off the bench, while making key shots both inside and out down the stretch.
As good as Thomas and Ross were throughout, this one came down to the man wearing No. 4. Aaron Craft struggled mightily in the waning minutes of the game, but came up big when it mattered most.
Craft missed the front end of consecutive 1-and-1 free throw attempts, contributing to a 13-0 Cyclone run, but he came up with the two biggest plays of the game to make up for it. Inside of a minute to play, Craft drew a charge (no matter what Charles Barkley says) that rescued the Buckeyes from a potential six-point deficit. On the game's final possession, Craft, the man with a hitch in his shot, pulled up and drained the biggest 3-pointer of his life, sending the Buckeyes to Los Angeles for the Sweet 16.
